Alex Hartman

Alex Hartman was the former CEO of Hammer Valley Hydro before the company's purchase by Jeff Walter and eventual bankruptcy. After Hammer Valley Hydro's bankruptcy, Hartman grew an obsession and a deep hatred for Jeff Walter, blaming him for the failure of his company, along with the bankruptcies of the numerous other companies Walter acquired. Hartman also believes Walter to be behind a deep-rooted scheme to destroy Stalburg, and as a result as embarked on a quest to "save the city from Walter". Hartman is never seen in person, and communicates to the player with tape recorders left behind in various locations he has visited.

Hartmann left a trap for Jeff Walter below the surface, near the foundation of his headquarters. Instead of Walter, however, the trap gets triggered by Mark instead. Mark gets locked into a room with one of Hartman's signature tape recorders. The tape begins playing, and Hartman begins telling "Walter" about how he is going to destroy the place to kill him. The tape concludes, and C4 begins detonating sequentially, and manages to make Mark an escape path. In skyscraper, the smoking remains of the trap can be seen.
