A quarantine zone will be opened in Obenseuer
The government decided to open a quarantine zone in Obenseuer soon after they admitted that the situation is getting worse than they expected. They are accused of causing great public danger by handling the situation very poorly.
72 new cases have been reported last weekend and new infections are expected to grow exponentially over the next few weeks. Scientists still disagree on how the fungal disease spreads, but at the moment it seems spread much easier than government has told the public.
Mayor of Stalburg, Jean Wallin, asks to avoid movement in areas where many cases have been reported, especially Obenseuer and Uhlu. The mayor did not provide more detailed information about the quarantine area yet, but said that potential healthy resident would be evacuated from the area before the quarantine area would be opened.
However, residents of the area are not excited about quarantining part of Obenseuer. Mirjam Freighter, a local O market shopkeeper, is worried that unrest in the region would increase and that her shop might end up in quarantine zone.
-Why here? They should move all sick people outside the city. We already have enough problems here. I just hope this does not affect my Sossu subsidies, says unemployed resident David Lund.
The government has also planned to open a new quarantine zone to Whiprock island, but they are still silent about who would be placed there and how fast it would be opened.
