Other Side
Other Side, also known as the Wasteland or the Black World, is a mysterious realm accessible in INFRA and Obenseuer games, that is an urban legend among the people of Obenseuer.
Overview[edit | edit source]
The realm is described as an underground world made out of walls and pipes, inhabited by big, shadow, Mörkö-like creatures and entities.[1] It is associated with an afterlife, as a place the people, or their souls, get stuck after death, or are being kept by something. For some being a comforting place to be,[2] for others an expression of screams and a feeling of pain.[3][4] Whispers of those people are supposedly heard from under the ground.[5]
When visited, mostly the only visible color from the light spectrum is red, leaving everything else is in the shades of gray or completely dark. Notably the living people on the surface are seen as emitting bright red light in the Other Side. Appearance of Green Mushrooms is also bright red, making them indistinguishable from actual Red Mushrooms.
Dead people appear in a shadow form with glowing red eyes, being near the remnants of their dead body from the surface. Player is able to talk with the dead to gather additional information and learn about their situation or feelings. While exploring the Other Side, player can find the Red Things that can help to reduce the Fungal Disease.
Other Side can be entered, to a various degrees, by consuming a special mixture[6] added to a coffee or a tea. Possession of a Black Amulet during the process appears to help the effects. An alternative way of entering the Other Side is using an OsRat device, that by utilising the Black Amulet, can connect directly with the Other Side near the dead bodies or other entities present in the Other Side, like the Red Things.
Appearances[edit | edit source]
Other Side appears in INFRA on two notable occassions, once as a part of special coffee Mark can brew at the MulEx CoPan coffee machine and once after consuming a special tea given after contacting the Missing Dock guy.
In Obenseuer, a preview of the Other Side is seen during the intro, on the course of the game player acquires the OsRat device along an Black Amulet to enter the Other Side whenever they please and are near entities from that realm. Player may also enter an Other Side-like area when they clip through the map, falling into the void.
Trivia[edit | edit source]
- In the prototype version of Obenseuer, during the original Other Side encounter in the Deekula B3 bathroom, a Shadow Woman could be found in the Other Side, standing behind the player, her appearance resembled Mörkö, with elongated fingers and stretched body parts, but without a mask, that is no longer present in the current version. Attempting to talk with the Shadow Woman would yield a response containing a binary code,[7] which once decoded, reads "Error. Please retry."
