The Border Checkpoint is a location in Obenseuer that separates the Red Factory Street from Trade Road. The checkpoint is located on the northern most part of the map and can only be accessed once at the start of a new game.

The exterior of the Border Checkpoint.
The interior of the Border Checkpoint.
The Interviewers, who are past the first entry door within the Border Checkpoint.

Gaining Access & Tutorial

The Border Checkpoint is where the player will first spawn upon creating a new character. In order to get past the first room, the player must do the following things in order:

  • Look Around (Mouse or Alternative): Look around the room.
  • Move (WASD Keys or Alternative): Move around the room.
  • Interact (E Key or Alternative): Interact with any object in the room.
  • Menu (TAB Key or Alternative): Open the menu.

Upon completing the tutorial, the door leading to the Interviewers will open (Door marked 4027). The player can then talk to the interviewers and engage in dialogue to get the following:

  • Player Traits (User Selected)
  • Player Tenement (Always)
  • Additional Information

Once the player has finished talking to the Interviewers, they will then have to complete additional tasks to leave:

  • Open the Map (M Key or Alternative): Open the map once.
  • Open the Tasks (T Key or Alternative): Open the task tracker once.
  • Collect a care package, which contains the following items:
    • Money
    • Food Items
    • Drink Items
    • Utility Items
    • Junk
  • Open the Inventory (I Key or Alternative): Open the inventory once.

The player can then leave through a second door and enter Obenseuer. Once the player leaves the Border Checkpoint, they can never return again.

Appearance

The Border Checkpoint appears to be a government-established special military zone that isolates the northern districts from Obenseuer. The checkpoint contains the following features that are consistent with what is expected to be at a military checkpoint:

  • Concrete and Wire Fences w/ Razor Wire
  • Guard Towers w/ Search Lights
  • Signs and Surveillance Cameras

Additionally, the border contains the following buildings (which are all assumed to be):

  • Army Barracks (South-eastern section)
  • Army Headquarters (South-eastern section)
  • Motor Pool (North-eastern section)
  • Detention Center (Western section)

Running along the detention center is a small canal going east-to-west, which opens up to a larger canal running north-to-south. Perimeter walls run along the entire length of all the canals, with military signs posted along the edges.
