Before the bankruptcy of Stalburg Steel, Rosenthal was very successful businessman.
Much of Rosenthal's background is unknown, but Rosenthal made a reputation for himself as Stalburg Steel's owner as a savvy hard-boiled businessman that could keep his company running. In addition, Rosenthal had connections to some of Stalburg's criminal organizations, which granted him some knowledge about the [[Stalburg Nuclear Weapons|S.N.W.]] conspiracy.  
He was wealthy and he had a lot of connections in high places including in some of stalburgs Criminal organizations.
Mikhail had a reputation as a hard-boiled businessman who knew how to keep his company running.  
Some time in 1981 [[S.N.W]] approached him with an "offer" and Mikhail sold majority of his company to [[Jeff Walter]].
Walter brought down the company using [[MWU]] as his cover to make it look like the bankruptcy was caused by an union strike.  


Later Rosenthal offered his villa for Walter to use as a hiding place while the corrupt city officials and [[Alex Hartman]] were after him.
Some time in 1981, [[S.N.W]] arranged the acquisition of his company through the wealthy entrepreneur and Rosenthal's friend, [[Jeff Walter]]. They presented an "offer" to purchase Stalburg Steel, something which Rosenthal accepted. Stalburg Steel would be intentionally bankrupted by S.N.W., and framed the [[Union of Metal Workers]] cover to make it look like its bankruptcy was caused by the union strikes.  
Rosenthal joined forces with Hartman and used his trust to mislead him away from Walter so that Jeff Walter could bring the stalburg city corruption into light.
After learning that Rosenthal was working with Walter, Hartman captured Rosenthal and locked him into a cage in the sewers where he was being tortured until he gave up the location where Walter was hiding.
