This article lists non-playable characters and their roles in Open Sewer.

Quarantine Zone

Axel Norberg

Gender: Male

The first character the player meets in-game. He appears to guard a checkpoint into the Obenseuer's quarantine zone, and asks several branching dialogue questions about the player. He assigns the player an entire building, and advises them not to use any mushrooms.

Krista Annina

Gender: Female
Job: Cemetery Caretaker

A strange caretaker living in a shack behind the church. She appears to believe people in Obenseuer are trapped in an underground world, an provides the player with a quest to gather 10 greenest mushrooms. She can provide the black amulet if her quest is complete and isn't mocked after the hallucination.

Pate Rantanen

Gender: Male

A freezing homeless man outside a quarantine checkpoint. He provides a quest to brew turnip moonshine and rewards a moon sticker. Pate can also be sold an apartment for daily rent.

Tatyana Gopnikova

Gender: Female

A woman outside the quarantine checkpoint that provides directions to the tenement and bazaar, as well as gives tips for getting OC.

Pera Harju

Gender: Male
A drunk homeless man that lives in an alley, he can be sold an apartment for daily rent.

Mirjam Freighter

Gender: Female
Job: Cashier
The cashier at the Open Sewer Market, all goods acquired at the convenience store must be cleared by her or she will call the police on the player.

Malone Petronis

Gender: Male
A grumpy old turnip salesman that was previously living in the tenement the player acquires. Malone talks about himself if given 10 bottles of Osmo Olut. He was once selling orange mushroom-turnip mix, but his supplier of orange mushrooms died. He can be assigned to help the player manage their tenant and allowed to stay for a ridiculously low rent, or evicted.

Mr. Duck

Gender: Male
A strange man seen wearing a duck mask who has an obsession with ducks, and periodically quacks while speaking. His apartment was seen before in INFRA in Turnip Hill. However it seems he's become homeless when sent to Obenseuer. He can be sold an apartment for daily rent.

Aleksi Kivi

Gender: Male
Job: Author
An author who wrote a book called "Seven Trees", and had his book stolen by thieves. He was sent to the quarantine zone because he used green hallucinogenic mushrooms for their "inspirational power". He can be sold an apartment for daily rent.

Omari Solheim

Gender: Male
Job: Junk trader

A trader outside the bazaar area that sells and buys a variety of items. He is the only trader that will purchase mushrooms or shit kilju.

Nina Lund

Gender: Female

A homeless woman living in a construction tube. She can be sold an apartment for daily rent.

Toni Mayer

Gender: Male Job: Pharmacist
The pharmacist at the Skeida Pharmacy, he can sell the player sleeping aids, anti-depressants, or expensive, but safe hallucinogenic mushrooms.

A father that came into Obenseuer with his son, Daniel. He was swindled by a local gangster and lost 1000 RM and left without a home. Oscar and his son can be sold an apartment for daily rent.

Hilla Palo

A trader that sells healthy vegetables, as well as non-hallucinogenic mushrooms.

Penni-Pena

The teller at the pocket bank. He can exchange OC and RM, as well as open a bank account for the player to store their money as an investment.

Pentti Penttilä

The bartender at the local bar. Pentti brews his own beer, and provides a quest that allows the player to be his supplier of sugar mash. Completing this quest line will reward a one time payment of 50 RM, as well as being able to exchange ten buckets of sugar mash for 300 OC at anytime.

A menacing man who was sent to Obenseuer after failing to pay rent in his apartment in Point Elias. He can be sold an apartment for daily rent if given a bottle of whiskey, and talks about how he got sent to Obenseuer more.

A woman living on the ground floor of Deekula 4B. She was evicted from her apartment after her neighbor started gossiping and accused her of killing her neighbor's cat. She provides the player with a quest to investigate her neighbor's apartment. She can also be sold an apartment for daily rent.

A friend of Amanda Korhonen. They will share an apartment together if the player rents it out to them.

Jacob Cooper

Family: Woman in Bed (daughter)

A seemingly deceased man buried in a bathtub in dirt and mushrooms surrounded by inactive radios.

Entering the bathroom with the black amulet in possession causes a disturbing scene where the radios individually light up, distorted noises are heard, and the player is able to talk with Jacob's body.

Jacob appears to be in pain, and begs the player to find an underground city in the mines, and kill an unknown entity in the city that is trapping people underground. Many references in his dialogue are similar in context to the wasteland notes.

Woman in Bed

Family: Jacob Cooper (father)

Amanda Korhonen's neighbor. She appears to be catatonic, lying under her bed sheets. Her scared breathing can be heard, and is seemingly unresponsive to most interactions, only able to let out a few words.

Shadow Woman

Gender: Female

A figure present during the interaction with Jacob Cooper, her features are heavily obscured and fingers unnaturally elongated, similar to Mörkö. Attempting to interact with her causes her to spurt out a binary phrase that translates to "Error, please retry".

Stalburg Underground Woman

Gender: Female

An unseen woman behind a locked door in the storage area. The player has several dialogue options to try to get her to let you in, including asking for a password, but she refuses any options and warns you to go away.
