Grouping Logic[edit source]
Ok, so... If all quests are to be slated by where they are started, why is Red Danger in the Mines? It is started in Anya`s basement, exactly the same place as Glowstick Trails. For that matter, why would Bank of Bazaar be in mines if it is started in your own apartment on picking up mail with the forged passport? We don`t even know if the access to the districts is going to be linear or not to begin with, given we only have two of them right now.
This needs to be rethought I think. Either arrange them all by which district you need to be in to get the start of the quest or separate them by how relevant to each district the quest is. Cause I wouldn`t be looking for Glowstick Trails in the Residential section, myself, and I`m pretty sure I`m not unique in that.
And, for crying out loud. Fredrik's Patient happens ENTIRELY within Residential. Sure, you need to have had been to Mines to do it, but the quest itself has nothing to do with the mines at all. So why would anyone sane look for it there, I have not the slightest. Cytotoxin (talk) 13:42, 15 March 2025 (UTC)
- Where is it started is one thing, the most important aspect is what district had to be unlocked to get new quests. Entering Mines is the condition for all new quests, including those that are not exclusively part of the mines. This way there's a clear distinction between updates, but more importantly player that looks for quests available in the area before continuing forward, won't be stuck looking for Fredrik's Patient quest, because they'll know to trigger it, the must complete a mine-related quest. Therefor, you cannot start Fredrik's Patient without completing mine quests, so it not some optional quest you can just start out of the blue in Residential district Nextej (talk) 13:53, 15 March 2025 (UTC)
- I question that logic. When I stumbled on this wiki, I was expecting to find quests grouped by which district they were most relevant to, and I had a hard time locating any information because quests just plain weren`t in the category I expected them to be. Like, I knew Glowstick Trails takes place almost entirely in the mines because I was like half-way through it before I started looking it up, and I was befuddled to find out someone apparently thinks it is in Residential district. At the time I attributed the whole thing simply to wiki being in disarray due to having been made based off much earlier game version and not being maintained since, but this clearly isn`t the case.Cytotoxin (talk) 14:23, 15 March 2025 (UTC)
- Maybe we need subgrouping. Group them by the district they actually happen in, then further separate them by how much of Obenseuer player needs to explore before they are available. Cytotoxin (talk) 14:26, 15 March 2025 (UTC)
- As I said. Group first by where the majority of quest takes place. If it`s split equally between districts, prefer the one that the quest is given in. Then split each district by "available immediately", "available after X", "available after Y" and so on. I think that would be good. Not really sure about Discord, tho. I`m usually around at odd hours. Cytotoxin (talk) 17:21, 15 March 2025 (UTC)
- Sorry for injecting myself into the conversation, but what about a seperate page that is a master "quest tree" to show how they branch from each other? could also help simplify organization if we have some kind of overall look at how each quest is accessed from the previous area/quest. Just a thought, trying to brainstorm alternate organization ideas. -Firebird (talk) 19:58, 15 March 2025 (UTC)
- It is a good idea to write down a dedicated page about quests and how they branch from each other so that the game timeline can be better tracked, but this is not an alternative to navbox, this is another neat thing that would be cool to have. The question of arranging quests in the navbox still remains, because, well.. it kinda has to have some semblance of compactness and portability, and yet be laid out in such a way as to not mislead a player. See, on one hand, if we sort quests strictly by district they are in, it leaves unclear just WHEN you can take them. On other hand, if we sort quests strictly by which district needs to be visited for them to become available, it introduces confusion as to which district the quest is actually happening in. It`s an annoying problem.Cytotoxin (talk) 23:30, 15 March 2025 (UTC)
