Along his journey he frequently is in contact with his boss Paul to report on his findings. During his inspections, he notes that the infrastructure is in very poor condition and inadvertently causes one of the Bergmann tunnels to collapse, which has a knock-on effect throughout the city's water system. After finishing his initial survey, he tries to contact Paul again, but has no signal, and must traverse the abandoned Stalburg Steel factory to reactivate a cell transceiver. He ends up walking a great distance through Stalburg's underground infrastructure before eventually returning to the Alcista Building near Point Elias. By this time, most of the city's power grid has failed and the Two Gorges Dam has collapsed. He meets with his co-workers and is assigned by Paul to drive to the Black Rock Nuclear Power Plant in anticipation that the floodwave from the dam has put the power plant at risk.
