On 25th of February, 1980, mayor Altmaier reassured that the construction of the new fresh water tunnel system will not be cancelled after the Bergmann Group announced bankruptcy. Despite that statement, the construction never resumed.[1]

On 14th of October, 1981, mayor Altmaier assured that the bankruptcy of Stalburg Steel is not as bad as a situation for the city as it seems, and that the government can manage it.[2]

Alex Hartman in his tapes accused Altmaier of being paid off by Jeff Walter, after Hammer Valley Hydro announced bankruptcy.[3]
