In Obenseuer, player's character has several status effects, needs and addictions player has to keep in check to survive. Addictions are dependent on Starting Choices, but can also be gotten during the game by overuse of substances.

Health statuses

Physical Health

Dependent on satisfied hunger and thirst, player dies when reached 0%. Painkillers, bought at Skeida Pharmacy, apply healing effect for a limited time, player can pay for medical examination at Dr. Pena MD to get a prescription for stronger Painkillers.

Bleeding

Effect applied when player gets cuts from touching thorny fence, getting cought in bear traps or cutting themselves from high depression, effect drains slowly physical health. Applied Bandages and Bandaids, bought at Skeida Pharmacy, help with stopping the bleeding.

Burning

Hidden effect applied from sauna overheating, effect drains slowly physical health. Leaving the hot area will stop burning, player can use showers to reduce overheating.

Mental Health

Dependent on the unsatisfied addiction needs, quality of beds and quality and variety of food, by default it slowly drains on its own, low mental health is equal to high depression. Antidepressants, bought at Skeida Pharmacy, long sessions in sauna, better beds, eating green mushrooms and more variet food of higher quality help with reducing depression, player can pay for medical examination at Dr. Pena MD to get a prescription for stronger Antidepressants, being drunk from alcohol temporarily suppresses the depression. When mental health reaches 0%, player will cut themselves, causing bleeding, and drink random alcohols from inventory.

Basic needs

Hunger

Basic need satisfied by eating food, each food is defined by the nutrients amount they provide to satisfy the need. Having a fungal disease forces to change diet into food with green mushrooms.


Thirst

Basic need satisfied by drinking water and drinks, each fluid is defined by the hydration amount they provide to satisfy the need. Having a fungal disease forces to change drinking water to Shroom Water.

Bowel and Bladder

Two needs combined into one status effect that grow over time from eating and drinking, can be satisfied at any toilet, one such can be found right off the O-Market. If player will not satisfy the needs in time, they will fill empty bottles with urine and produce Shit, hurting the physical health in the process.

Tiredness

Need that grows over time, forcing player to use beds, beds located in occupied apartments cannot be used. Player can control the need using Sleeping Pills to get more tiredness or Coffee to reduce tiredness.

Addictions

Alcohol Addiction

Addiction with a need for alcohol, can be satisfied when drinking any alcohol, if the need reaches 100%, it will start to drain down mental health. To battle it, player should hold the need off as long as possible and drink light alcohols, sauna sessions also help in reducing the addiction.


Smoking Addiction

Addiction with a need for smokes, can be satisfied when smoking any cigarattes, if the need reaches 100%, it will start to drain down mental health, cigarattes can be bought at O-Market when talked to clerk. To battle it, player should hold the need off as long as possible and then smoke cigarattes, sauna sessions also help in reducing the addiction.


Mushroom Addiction

Addiction with a need for green mushrooms, can be satisfied when eating green mushrooms of any potency level, smoking mushroom-laced cigarettes or eating mushroom food, if the need reaches 100%, it will start to drain down mental health. To get mushrooms, player can buy them at a vending machine in Deekula C or in an alleyway between Skeida Pharmacy and O-Market or farm them themselves using own farm placed inside Player's Tenement. To battle it, player should hold the need off as long as possible and then eat the mushrooms, sauna sessions also help in reducing the addiction.


Hidden addictions [Show][Hide]

Duck Addiction

Hidden addiction given as player picks up Blue Rubber Duck on the course of Quack Quack! quest, the need can be satisfied by carrying more and more yellow Rubber Ducks, that can be found from exploration, crafted on a 3D Printer or bought at a vending machine inside Deekula C, if the need appears at all, it will start to drain down mental health. To battle it, player can give it back to blue Mr. Duck or carry enough yellow Rubber Duck with them. Satisfied need for ducks will constantly improve mental health.
